Ama ofori-darko

General Assistant

Ama Ofori-Darko joined us in October 2022 marking a pivotal point for BFA as we thrive to grow the organisation. Learn more about Ama’s background and journey…

Ama Ofori-Darko is a Part II Architectural Assistant and graduate of the MPhil in Architecture and Urban Design course at the University of Cambridge, where she began her ongoing research exploring the urban condition of churches within London’s African and Caribbean communities.

Whilst completing her Part I at the Kingston School of Art, she acted as an Academic Mentor and Community Outreach Officer seeking out opportunities for the architecture department to engage with its local community, alongside promoting architecture among young people from backgrounds where the vocation may be less accessible. She has worked within practices McDaniel|Woolf and FT Architects, working on the delivery of various private residential and commercial projects.

Ama is also interested in how academia might broaden its canon to engage with forms of knowledge and perspectives that may otherwise be overlooked, in a bid to empower architectural education's increasingly diverse student body.
